Bombers trying to get off the schneid vs. Tiger-Cats

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will try to get their first win of the season when they travel to Tim Hortons Field to take on the 1-1 Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Thursday.

Though they're the only 0-2 team in the league (the Saskatchewan Roughriders are 0-1), there's plenty of light at the end of the tunnel for the Bombers.

Winnipeg boasts the CFL's No. 2 passing offence and No. 5 rushing offence. However, their inability to turn yards into points has developed into a concern two weeks into the season.

Turnovers and pass protection have been issues for the Winnipeg offence, which helps explain why the club only ranks sixth in total points scored. Drew Willy has thrown for more than 300 yards in both games this season, but he's been sacked a league-high eight times, while Winnipeg's five turnovers also lead the CFL.

The Ticats, meanwhile, are looking to rebound from a poor showing in their home opener against the BC Lions, where they faltered in a blowout. To do that, they'll need quarterback Jeremiah Masoli to play like he did in the Week 1 win over the Toronto Argonauts, when he threw three touchdowns with no turnovers, rather than how he performed in the Week 2 loss, when he didn't reach the end zone and tossed a couple of picks.

Six of the league's top 20 leading receivers - three from each team - are set to be featured in this game, which will also involve Winnipeg's Weston Dressler. The prized free-agent acquisition is set to return from the apparent head injury that forced him from the season opener and kept him on the shelf last week.
