After reportedly asking for a trade earlier in the day, Shawn Lemon got his wish and has been shipped out of town.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive lineman was traded Saturday along with a conditional 2018 draft pick to the Toronto Argonauts for offensive lineman Matt Sewell and international quarterback Mitchell Gale. The announcement was made on the Roughriders website.

Lemon is currently in his sixth CFL season and will now join his fifth team over that span. Before his second stint with the Roughriders, Lemon previously played for the Ottawa RedBlacks, the Calgary Stampeders, and the Edmonton Eskimos, appearing in 47 games.

Citing sources, Scott Mitchell of the Calgary Sun reported Friday that Lemon had requested for a trade, and that the Stampeders were showing interest. Lemon won the Grey Cup with the Stampeders in 2014 while recording 13 sacks in 18 games.

On the flip side of the deal, 6-foot-7, 340-pound Matt Sewell is a former first round-draft pick of the Argonauts in 2013 and will join the Roughriders in his third season. Gale, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound pivot has 33 career games under his belt and presents a dual-threat under centre, having rushed for 91 yards on 33 carries.
