Ticats extend Collaros through 2018
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed quarterback Zach Collaros to a contract extension through the 2018 season, the club announced Monday.
Collaros, 27, is currently rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered last year, but is expected to reclaim the starting job as soon as he returns to full health. Although he won't be ready for the beginning of the regular season, the Ti-Cats declined to place him on the six-game injured list, meaning he should be ready to go sooner rather than later.
Collaros was on his way to an MOP-caliber campaign last year before he suffered the season-ending knee injury in September. In 12 regular-season games, the Cincinnati product tossed for 3,376 yards and 25 touchdowns while posting a 70.2 completion percentage.
He came to Hamilton as a free agent in January 2014 after spending the first two years of his CFL career with the Toronto Argonauts.
