The 2016 CFL Draft was less than a month ago, but the first overall pick is already at odds with his new team.
Josiah St. John is demanding a trade from the Saskatchewan Roughriders over a contract dispute, league sources told Justin Dunk of 3 Down Nation.
The Riders offered the rookie a two-year contract at the league minimum of $52,000 and $53,000 per year, respectively. St. John believes his compensation should equal that of 2015 top picks Alex Mateas and Sukh Chungh, who received salaries of approximately $80,000 with an additional $20,000 in incentives.
St. John is willing to hold out until the start of the regular season if his demand isn't met.
