Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez appeared at WWE SmackDown on Friday and told ESPN's Marc Raimondi that he's in advanced talks to sign with the professional wrestling promotion.

Velasquez confronted Brock Lesnar, also a former UFC heavyweight champion, in his WWE debut. The 37-year-old was in the Octagon as recently as February, when he was knocked out by Francis Ngannou.

"This is definitely my focus," Velasquez said of pro wrestling. "My family is into it, they love it. They're super excited. I haven't seen them excited over something like this in a while. It's cool."

Velasquez worked out at WWE's training facility in 2018 and signed a short-term deal in March 2019 with Mexican promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.

In addition to Lesnar, WWE also employs former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.
