The first-ever Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34 will proceed under a new name.
WWE came under fire for naming the match after Moolah - real name Mary Lillian Ellison - due to her checkered past. The WWE Hall of Famer, who died in 2007 at the age of 84, has been accused of financially exploiting and "pimping" out female wrestlers.
On Thursday, WWE announced that it will be changing the name of the match.
"After further consideration, we believe it's best to proceed with the name 'WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal,'" a representative for the company told Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin. "What remains most important is that this historic match is part of WWE's unwavering commitment to the Women's Division."
