Canada's Kadeisha Buchanan wins Best Young Player Award

Canadian defender Kadeisha Buchanan won the FIFA Women's World Cup Best Young Player Award on Sunday.

Buchanan compiled a tour-de-force performance for the host nation, and became the anchor of the team's back line at just 19 years old.

Considered one of the most promising defensive prospects in the world entering the tournament, Buchanan may already be one of the world's best center backs after her standout campaign.

Canada surrendered a mere three goals in regulation in large part due to Buchanan's efforts. Going forward, Buchanan is slated to become a staple of the national team for the next decade.

Playing for West Virginia in the NCAA, Buchanan is almost certainly a pre-season All-American candidate.
