Was there ever any doubt?

The United States will defend its title at next summer's Women's World Cup, as Tobin Heath and Alex Morgan each scored twice in a 6-0 victory over Jamaica on Sunday to secure a place in France.

The Americans, who've lifted the Women's World Cup a record three times, dominated Sunday's contest from the opening whistle, finding the net five times before the interval.

The second half was merely a formality.

Morgan put the icing on the cake when she stepped up and slotted home a penalty in the 84th minute. USWNT stalwarts Megan Rapinoe and Julie Ertz also got their names on the scoresheet prior to Morgan's late tally.

The victory came shortly after Canada also booked a spot in the 2019 tournament by virtue of its own win over Panama. The two North American rivals will now meet in the final of the CONCACAF Women's Championship. With each side having already punched a ticket to France, simple bragging rights will be on the line Wednesday night.

The Women's World Cup kicks off in June of next year.
