Andy Murray's camp confirmed the two-time Wimbledon singles champion will pair up with seven-time singles champion Serena Williams for the mixed doubles competition at this year's tournament, according to New York Times contributor Ben Rothenberg.

Williams is a two-time mixed doubles Grand Slam champion, winning alongside Belarus' Max Mirnyi at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 1998. Combined with finalist finishes at the French Open in 1998 and the Australian Open in 1999, Williams boasts a 27-4 lifetime mixed doubles record.

She'll compete concurrently as the No. 11 seed in the ladies' singles draw.

Earlier on Tuesday, Williams teased the possibility of a star-studded partnership with the Scotsman.

“If you guys really want it then maybe I’ll do it,” she told reporters, according to the Daily Mail's Riath Al-Samarrai.

Murray hasn't won a title in the format, but he did capture the silver medal in the mixed doubles program alongside Great Britain's Laura Robson at the 2012 Olympics.

Due to lingering injuries, Murray has played just three singles matches on tour this year and none since losing in the first round of the Australian Open in January. However, he and Spain's Feliciano Lopez won the title at the Fever-Tree Championships last month.

At Wimbledon, Murray will play in the men's doubles tournament too, pairing with France's Pierre-Hughes Herbert.
