Serena Williams won her opening-round match at the French Open, defeating Kristyna Pliskova 7-6, 6-4 on Tuesday afternoon.
It was Williams' first appearance at a major since giving birth to her daughter in September, and her first match on clay this season.
The 36-year-old showed off her tremendous serve, pounding 13 aces in the straight-set victory over the 70th ranked Pliskova.
“I’m just happy to win a match here,” Williams told the crowd in Court Philippe Chatrier. “I’m just happy to take it a day at a time.”
Wiiliams also made a fashion statement in her first trip to Roland Garros in over a year, sporting a black "catsuit" with an eye-popping red belt.
