Serena feels 'hungry, super-motivated' in pursuit of 22nd major
The rest of the women's field won't want to hear this.
After going 0-3 in pursuit of her 22nd major title, Serena Williams is feeling great about her chances this time around.
"I'd be lying if I said I feel fresh, but I don't feel fatigue," Williams said following a first-round win over Amra Sadikovic. "I feel real hungry, super motivated, extremely ready to do the best."
Another Grand Slam title for Williams would equal Steffi Graf's record of 22 majors, but it hasn't been easy. After looking dominant for most of last year, Serena was upset by Roberta Vinci in the semifinals at the US Open, ending a bid for the calendar Grand Slam.
Williams lost in the finals at both the Australian and French Open finals this year, appearing to feel the pressure of chasing the record at times.
