The FIFA Disciplinary Committee announced on Monday that it cannot take any action against Colombian defender Juan Zuniga because the incident "did not escape referee's attention or constitute an obvious error."
Soccer's governing body went on to assure us that despite not punishing Zuniga for kneeing Neymar in the back, FIFA does in fact "regret any incidents occurring on the pitch that in particular have a negative impact on the health of players."
Brazilian fans aren't likely to find much solace in FIFA's regrets. Nor will Neymar, who fractured his third vertebra in the collision, and will be sidelined for six weeks.
