As the French team prepared for their round of 16 match against Nigeria, their training session took an unexpected turn Friday.
A pitch invader bypassed security, forcing two guards to collide and fall to the ground in a move NFL running backs would be proud of, and bolted across the field towards the French squad as they jogged around the pitch.
The fans in attendance roared in support of the pitch invader as he made his way towards the players and into the inviting arms of French defender Eliaquim Mangala. He was apprehended soon after by security guards who then handed the young fan over to authorities at Botafogo's Santa Cruz stadium.
In the end, it's pretty clear that all he wanted was a hug.
