VIDEO: Cameroon player head-butts his own teammate
Just before the 90th minute, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Benjamin Moukandjo got into a heated argument that resulted in Assou-Ekotto throwing a head butt at his teammate.
Pierre Webo was quick to get between the two before anything more serious developed, but it was a strange incident from a strange match that had already seen Alex Song inexplicably strike Mario Mandzukic to get sent off.
Last month, players staged a strike at their training camp in Austria when they learned that certain bonus payments that were promised to them weren't going to be paid. Then, on the Sunday before the World Cup, the team refused to board a plane to take them to Brazil until other grievances, including the amount of bonuses for reaching the knockout stage, were settled.
Even after they arrived in Brazil, there were stories of players missing training and rumors of another potential strike before the match against Croatia. It's too bad because Cameroon typically boasts some of the best talent to come out of Africa. Nonetheless, they've never been able to exhibit it on the World Cup stage, and this year is no exception.
