Brazil legend Ronaldo was discharged from a Spanish hospital after being treated for a severe case of the flu.

The 41-year-old was admitted into an Ibiza hospital last week with what doctors feared was a bout of the flu that was capable of developing into pneumonia, according to a report from Brazil, as translated by NBC Sports.

Ronaldo incurred the illness while on vacation at the popular tourist destination, forcing him to spend four days in the hospital before he was discharged Tuesday.

The two-time World Cup winner released a statement on social media assuring his followers that he had returned home and to thank the nurses and doctors who treated him in Spain:

Ronaldo, whose Golden Boot performance fueled Brazil to a record fifth World Cup triumph in 2002, ended his illustrious career in 2011 following stints with Cruzeiro, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Corinthians.
