It wasn't the title, but at least one trophy came home in the end.

Harry Kane walked away from the 2018 World Cup with the Golden Boot, as the England talisman finished the competition with six goals, despite not finding the net in his final three matches in Russia.

The 24-year-old beat out Romelu Lukaku, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Denis Cheryshev, who each scored four times.

Kane, who seemed to be struggling with an injury in the latter stages of the tournament, banged in all six of his tallies in his first three games. The Tottenham superstar netted both goals, including a last-minute winner, in England's tense 2-1 win over Tunisia. He followed that up with a hat-trick against Panama, and after being rested for the Three Lions' group-stage finale against Belgium, he converted a penalty against Colombia in the round of 16.

Though it doesn't count toward his tally, Kane also slotted home a spot-kick in the shootout against Los Cafeteros.

The selfless striker, tasked with being the primary finisher in a largely blunt England attack, faded as the competition rolled on, but leaves Russia a deserved winner of some hardware.
