Florence Schelling named MVP, Best Goalkeeper as individual awards are handed out in Sochi
After holding the eventual gold medal winners from Canada to three goals in the semifinal and helping her team to a 4-3 bronze medal win on Thursday against Sweden, goaltender Florence Schelling will be taking some additional hardware from Sochi.
The 24-year-old - who posted a .913 save percentage while making a tournament-high 252 saves - was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player and Best Goalkeeper, according to IIHF.com.
Schelling stopped 28-of-31 shots in the medal-winning game against Sweden.

- Best Defenseman: Jenni Hiirikoski, Finland (three goals, two assists, 23 shots, plus-three)
- Best Forward: Michelle Karvinen, Finland (five goals, two assists, 16 shots, plus-four)
