It is really difficult for Olympic skiers to find the right pants

The New York Times decided to investigate an issue that has been on the radar at the Olympics. No, not the stray dog cull, or the hotel issues. They dug deep into the world of alpine skiing to find out how they manage to find pants that fit correctly, considering they are known for their large thighs and, uh, rears.

Here are some of the best quotes from the NYT piece about skier butts. You know you are interested.

“Yes, I have an enormous butt,” - Canadian skier Jan Hudec, who finished 21st in the men's downhill. He added: "When they rip, I drive them across town and my mother sews them for me."

“We tend to tear the crotches in our jeans quite a bit,” - U.S. downhill skier Steven Nyman.

“Yes, we have derrières. We’ve got booties. I’ve spent 28 years squatting in that squat position, and I’m really proud of it. It would be a lot easier for me to be a skinny normal person. I have to work really hard to get this muscle.” - British skier Chemmy Alcott, who will compete in the ladies' downhill on Tuesday.

“I come to the shop and they tell me, ‘Your muscles are very nice. You are like a model, and you can buy anything you want.’” - Slovakia's Martin Bendik. The best part of this story is that he apparently said this while "gazing modestly down at the snow."
