Canada's Rachel Homan details struggles since loss in mixed curling
Competing in the Olympics can be among the greatest accomplishments in an athlete's life, but it can also be a devastating experience when results don't meet expectations.
Canadian curler Rachel Homan has been dealing with the disappointment of missing out on the medal round in mixed curling after coming up just short against Italy with her partner John Morris.
Homan's shot for the win, which happened in an extra end, came up just a millimeter shy of outplacing the Italians, which would have given Canada the win and a spot in the semifinal.
While congratulating fellow Olympian and childhood best friend Ivanie Blondin on her gold medal win in the women's team pursuit, Homan took the time to describe the difficulties she's been facing since that devastating loss.
Being completely honest because I know many athletes have felt this but I’m in the deepest of black holes wishing we could have found another centimetre for Canada.

Know that I’m cheering hard for every athlete in Beijing right now but personally struggling beyond words.
Homan also represented Canada as the skip of the women's team in PyeongChang 2018, finishing in sixth place. She's medaled at the world championships three times, including a gold in 2017. While Olympic success has been difficult to attain, she made it clear how proud she is to wear the red and white.
I never take the maple leaf for granted and am grateful for the chance to fight for you all ❤️🇨🇦
