What you need to know

Germany goes for gold as ultimate underdogs

It's the final day of competition at PyeongChang 2018 and, just as we all predicted, team Germany made the final and will look to win its first-ever gold medal in men's hockey. The Olympic Athletes from Russia boast an impressive collection of talent and experience, but Germany has proven to be up to the task in matching up against the tournament's best by beating Sweden and Canada en route to the gold medal game.

Codie Bascue hopes to guide team to podium in 4-man bobsleigh final

It would take a miracle for team U.S., led by pilot Codie Bascue, to reach the podium after placing ninth in Heats 1 and 2. Ahead of the Americans are three teams from Germany, two of which are in first and third, as well as Canadian two-man gold medalist Justin Kripps, whose team enters the final in fourth.

It's worth noting that Germany's Francesco Friedrich enters the final two heats with a chance to become only the sixth pilot to win gold in the two- and four-man competition in the same Olympics.

Update: Bascue's team finished in 19th place.

Korea goes for gold in women's curling final

With the U.S. men's curling team bringing home gold, now it's on to the women's final, where Korea has a chance at making history.

As the host country, Korea has absolutely dominated women's curling at PyeongChang 2018. Skip Kim Eun-jung brilliantly led her rink to an 8-1 record in the round robin and topped that off by beating rivals Japan 8-7 in the playoffs. Not only did Korea guarantee its first-ever Olympic medal in curling, the team has an opportunity to become the first women's team in Olympic history to win gold on home soil (Canada's men's team accomplished the feat at Vancouver 2010).

Update: Sweden was able to fend off the home side, defeating Korea 8-3 in 9 ends to capture the gold medal.
