Krueger claims silver in 1,000m

John-Henry Krueger navigated his way through a chaotic men's 1,000m final in short track speedskating, a race that saw several skaters crash out, to finish with a silver medal.

Krueger's medal is the first individual U.S. men's short track medal since Apolo Ohno in 2010.

Chen fails to medal, but future of U.S. figure skating bright

After a fall-ridden showing in the short program, 18-year-old Nathan Chen redeemed himself with an inspired performance in the free skate, including an Olympic-record six quadruple jumps. Chen was awarded a score of 215.08 - top in the free skate - but finished fifth overall due to his rough start.

Chen was followed in the standings by his compatriot, 17-year-old Vincent Zhou. With two teenage phenoms entering their athletic prime, the future of U.S. figure skating is in good hands. (Read more)

In fact, Ledecka's stunning win birthed a minor mystery, as conflicting reports began to circulate that the skis worn on her gold-medal run belonged to none other than American downhill queen Mikaela Shiffrin, who had withdrawn from competing in super-G. Shiffrin's mother and coach denied that claim. (Read more)
