With a brilliant effort in his final run Sunday afternoon, snowboarder Redmond "Red" Gerard became the first U.S. medalist at PyeongChang 2018, winning gold in the slopestyle event.
While delivering his country's first gold medal of the games was impressive enough, Gerard also made some history with his incredible performance.
At just 17 years of age, he became the first Winter Olympian born in the 2000s to win gold. The 5-foot-5, 115-pounder also became the youngest American ever to medal in snowboarding.
As for what the Ohio-born Gerard was thinking before the final jump on his clinching run?
"Just don't blow it," he said, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.
Ah, to be young and carefree.
