Team Canada announced that figure skating duo Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir would enter next month's PyeongChang Winter Olympics as the country's official flag-bearers.

It's the first time Canada has selected multiple flag-bearers for an opening ceremony.

"They are Canadians we can all be proud of," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at the announcement on CBC.

The duo won an Olympic gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Games, becoming the youngest pair to win top honors at the event. They later took home two silver medals at the 2014 Sochi Games. Additionally, they are three-time World Champions and eight-time Canadian National Champions

"This is undoubtedly the pinnacle of our career," Virtue said. (Being a flag-bearer) brings with it a sense of duty, privilege, and, above all, great pride."

The opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 9 at 3:00 a.m. PT.
