Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson has a signature sneaker on the way.

Nike announced Wilson as the newest member of its signature athlete roster Saturday ahead of the Aces' preseason game against the Puerto Rico national team. Her first signature shoe, dubbed the A'One, is set to release in spring 2025.

"As one of the most iconic basketball players of her generation, of course, Wilson got a signature shoe," Nike said.

Some WNBA fans took issue with Wilson not yet having a signature shoe in the wake of Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark signing a reported eight-year, $28-million deal with Nike in April. However, the brand said Wilson's sneaker has been in the works for over a year.

In an interview with Callie Lawson-Freeman of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Wilson explained why she waited to announce the news of her shoe, saying she "just wanted it to be perfect."

"I didn't want this to be something that was just like a handout," the 27-year-old said. "I wanted for people to understand that this is coming from me. It took a lot of time, a lot of hard conversations with Nike and my team in order for us to get this product."

Wilson and the Aces open their regular season Tuesday at home against the Phoenix Mercury.
