A native of Syracuse, New York, Stewart won two championships in 2018 and 2020, as well as the 2018 WNBA MVP, with the Storm.
Stewart led the league in scoring at 21.8 points per game last season. The four-time All-WNBA first-team recipient holds career averages of 20.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.6 steals over 183 contests.
The Liberty added 2021 MVP Jonquel Jones from the Connecticut Sun in a three-team deal that also brought the franchise veteran forward Kayla Thornton from the Dallas Wings to pair with young phenom Sabrina Ionescu.
New York joins the 2008 Storm - who added Sheryl Swoopes and Yolanda Griffith - as the only teams in league history to acquire multiple former MVPs in a single offseason, according to ESPN's Stats & Info.
The Storm also lost franchise legend Sue Bird to retirement after they lost in the semifinals to the eventual champion Las Vegas Aces.
