Minnesota Lynx center Sylvia Fowles has been named the WNBA's Defensive Player of the Year, the league announced.

This marks the fourth time the league has recognized Fowles as its top defensive player. She previously won the award in 2011, 2013, and 2016.

Fowles was a two-way force for Minnesota during the regular season, averaging 16 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, and 1.8 steals in 31 starts.

The Lynx begin their journey towards a fifth WNBA championship when they host the Chicago Sky in a single-elimination second-round playoff matchup Sunday afternoon.
