Star guard Chelsea Gray is departing the Los Angeles Sparks to join the Las Vegas Aces, sources told The Next Hoops' Howard Megdal.
After playing her rookie season with the Connecticut Sun, Gray emerged as a perennial All-Star in Los Angeles, averaging 14 points, 5.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in 2020.
One of the WNBA's top outside shooters, Gray joins an old-school, Bill Laimbeer-coached Aces squad that attempted just 11.5 shots from beyond the 3-point arc per game last season, by far the lowest rate in the league. The 28-year-old has connected on 38.5% of her 3-point attempts through six seasons.
Las Vegas will call on Gray to fill the void left by All-Star Kayla McBride, who indicated she's leaving the Aces to sign with the Minnesota Lynx once contracts can be finalized starting Feb. 1.
