Canada added forward Jagger Firkus to its 25-man world junior roster on Saturday.
The move comes after Matt Savoie missed Saturday's practice while dealing with minor injuries suffered in Friday's loss to Sweden. Savoie's status for Canada's New Year's Eve clash against Germany is unclear, with head coach Alan Letang saying, "We'll see how he feels (Sunday)," according to TSN's Mark Masters.
Firkus attended Canada's camp but was cut. The Seattle Kraken drafted the 19-year-old in the second round in 2022, and he's produced 59 points in 32 games with the WHL's Moose Jaw Warriors this season.
Canada is 2-0-0-1 at the tournament and will face Czechia in the quarterfinals if it defeats Germany on Sunday.
