Sweden in the preliminary round of the world juniors: simply unbeatable.
With a 5-2 win over Czech Republic on Saturday afternoon in Montreal, the Swedes earned their 40th consecutive round-robin win, a streak that dates back 10 years.
Buffalo Sabres prospects Alex Nylander and Rasmus Asplund continue to pace the Swedish attack, each chipping in two points. Nylander holds the tournament lead with nine points in four games.
Sweden secured the top spot in Group A, and as impressive as their preliminary dominance has been, the real tournament starts now. Despite their 40 consecutive victories, the Swedes have just one gold medal to show for it.
