Joe Hart relinquished his duty as captain in order for Jermain Defoe and Bradley Lowery, the Sunderland supporter fighting terminal cancer, to lead the England team out ahead of Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Lithuania.

In February, the Football Association announced Bradley would act as a mascot and lead the English national team out of the tunnel.

Bradley was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2013, with his mother saying he only has months to live.

Bradley's day was made even more special when his hero opened the scoring, as Defoe gave England a 1-0 lead when he turned in a cross from close-range in the 22nd minute.
