SummerSlam has been quite unkind to John Cena over the years, but the 16-time World Champion finally found some good fortune Sunday night at the 30th edition of the event in Brooklyn, N.Y.

With a pinfall victory over "The Lone Wolf" Baron Corbin, Cena ended a six-match losing streak at "The Biggest Party of the Summer" that dates all the way back to 2011.

John Cena's recent SummerSlam Record:

  • 2011: Loss to CM Punk (WWE Championship)
  • 2012: Loss to CM Punk and Big Show (WWE Championship)
  • 2013: Loss to Daniel Bryan (WWE Championship)
  • 2014: Loss to Brock Lesnar (WWE Championship)
  • 2015: Loss to Seth Rollins (WWE/United States Championship)
  • 2016: Loss to A.J. Styles

Prior to Sunday, Cena's last SummerSlam win came as the sole survivor of the seven-man Team WWE against The Nexus in 2010.

Corbin sought retribution against Cena on Sunday, believing the former had cost him his Money in the Bank briefcase last Tuesday night on SmackDown Live. The former NXT standout slid out of the ring and attempted to re-enter near the tail end of the contest, but was met with a vicious clothesline from Cena.

With Corbin incapacitated, Cena placed him on his shoulders and drove him into the canvas with an Attitude Adjustment that put him away.
