USA's Stroman named WBC MVP, vows to return in 2021

With a shot at redemption, Marcus Stroman was electric.

The United States right-hander allowed one hit over six innings to lead his country to an 8-0 win over Puerto Rico in the final of the World Baseball Classic and took home tournament MVP honors for his effort.

It was an impressive bounce-back performance for the 25-year-old, who in his first start against Puerto Rico in the second round, was shelled for four runs off eight hits and one walk in 4 2/3 innings.

Stroman finished the tournament with a 2.35 ERA to go with nine strikeouts and one walk over three starts, and said that he fully intends on participating again in 2021.

"I'll be back in four years to defend the title," Stroman told reporters, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.
