Real Madrid are monitoring Alphonso Davies' contract situation at Bayern Munich ahead of a possible summer swoop for the Canadian star, according to ESPN's Alex Kirkland.

With Davies' deal set to expire in 2025, it's understood that Real Madrid will only consider launching a bid to sign the left-back if he decides not to extend his stay in Bavaria.

Bayern's willingness to listen to offers for the 23-year-old rather than lose him for nothing next summer is another crucial factor in determining the Spanish club's plans for this summer, adds Kirkland.

Conversely, there were rumblings Tuesday that Real Madrid are taking a more aggressive approach by actively trying to lure Davies to the Spanish capital and deter him from signing an extension, reports Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany.

Regardless of the approach, it's clear from recent reports that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti wants to add a new left-back this summer. Davies is viewed as an ideal fit for his talented and youthful Real Madrid squad.

While Davies is intrigued by the chance to play at Real Madrid, he'll consider Bayern's final offer before making a decision, Kirkland reports.

Davies has evolved into one of the sport's top full-backs in the five years he's spent at Bayern Munich since signing from the Vancouver Whitecaps.
