Christian Pulisic put his body on the line for the United States.

The American star suffered a pelvic contusion while scoring the only goal in Tuesday's must-win match against Iran, the USMNT announced. Pulisic collided heavily with Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand while putting the ball in the net from close range in the 38th minute.

The 24-year-old is considered day-to-day.

The United States, which advanced to the World Cup knockout stage with the 1-0 win on Tuesday, will play the Netherlands on Saturday. In a message shared from his hospital bed on social media, Pulisic said he would be "ready" in time for that contest.

In visible pain and requiring treatment on the field after the awkward collision with Beiranvand, Pulisic played out the remainder of the first half before being replaced at the interval by Brenden Aaronson. He was then transported to hospital for scans on the ailment.

Pulisic, playing in his first World Cup, has one goal and one assist in Qatar. The U.S. has won each of the last nine matches in which he has scored.
