Canadian soccer star Alphonso Davies suffered a muscle tear while playing for German club Bayern Munich on Saturday, raising fears he could miss the World Cup in two weeks' time.

"According to the doctors, at first glance, it is at least a muscle tear. We'll have to wait for further tests," Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said after Bayern's 3-2 win over Hertha Berlin.

Davies appeared to clutch his right hamstring after challenging for the ball in the second half of the contest. The 22-year-old walked off the pitch in the 64th minute with medical staff by his side.

It's the second time in several weeks Davies has come off injured. The left-back suffered a cranial bruise after taking a boot to the face during Bayern's 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in early October.

He returned to action a week later.

Davies also missed three World Cup qualifiers earlier this year due to a mild case of myocarditis. Canada won each of those games - including a headline encounter with the United States - by a score of 2-0.

Canada begins its first World Cup campaign in 36 years on Nov. 23 against Belgium.
