Toronto FC sign Argentinian forward Lucas Janson on loan
Toronto FC made a major summer signing on the final day of the MLS secondary transfer window, taking striker Lucas Janson on loan from Argentine side Tigre.
Janson was acquired using targeted allocation money and has signed a temporary deal with the Reds.
"Lucas is a young, dynamic player that has the ability to play out wide, up front, and centrally as an attacking midfielder," general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a release on the club's official website. "We wanted to bring in a player that gives us multiple options in the attack and Lucas fits that need. We are excited to bring him in on loan and get him integrated into the group."
Janson, a diminutive 23-year-old forward, has amassed 10 goals and 10 assists in 82 Argentine league appearances for Tigre over the last six seasons. He now joins Sebastian Giovinco, Jozy Altidore, Tosaint Ricketts, Jordan Hamilton, and young pair Jon Bakero and Ayo Akinola as a forward option for Greg Vanney.
