Ronaldo sets sights on Euro 2024 after dismissing retirement talk

Cristiano Ronaldo won't bid farewell to international football after Portugal's run at the 2022 World Cup concludes later this year.

The Manchester United star is eager to continue his illustrious international career and is confident he can compete at Euro 2024 - when he'll be 39 years old.

"I hope to be part of the (Portuguese Football) Federation for a few more years," he said Tuesday, according to ESPN's Adriana Garcia. "I still feel motivated; my ambition is high. I'm in a team with young people. I want to be part of this World Cup and the (Euros) too; I'm going to assume that right away."

Speaking at a gala hosted by the Portuguese Football Federation, Ronaldo said the "road is not over yet" after being honored as the highest men's international goalscorer.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner scored 117 goals in 189 international games since making his debut for Portugal in 2003. He captained Portugal to its first major trophy at Euro 2016.
