Usain Bolt offered 2-year contract by Champions League-aspiring club

Usain Bolt's professional football career could be about to truly kick off.

Just days after the eight-time Olympic gold medalist sprinter scored his first goals for a pro team, hitting a brace in a friendly for Australian side Central Coast Mariners, it appears Bolt could be heading to Europe.

Tony Rallis, Bolt's representative during his time in Australia, told ESPN's Stephanie Brantz: "There is a club in Europe that has offered Bolt a two-year deal. They have been taken over by new owners who have aspirations of Champions League football."

While there is no indication as to which club came forward with the proposal, the mention of new ownership narrows the potential field considerably.

Signing Bolt has obvious appeal. His left-footed finish for his first goal showcased his footballing ability, but he also presents a monumental publicity and marketing opportunity for ambitious club owners.

Bolt remains a trialist with the Mariners, rather than a contracted player. According to news.com.au, any formal offer from the club would likely require "a contribution" from Football Federation Australia.

The Jamaican has previously spent time on trial with Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset and trained with Bundesliga contenders Borussia Dortmund earlier this year. He's also admitted his desire to one day play for his dream club, Manchester United.
