Rediscovered touch: Lazio defeats 9-man Saint-Etienne at Stadio Olimpico
Entering Thursday, Lazio had scored just once in its last three European home fixtures.
That was quickly forgotten over the course of 90 minutes.
In a Europa League thriller that featured five goals and two red cards, Lazio finally created the goals the club had struggled to produce recently in European football, defeating a nine-man AS Saint-Etienne 3-2 at the Stadio Olimpico.
Saint-Etienne started well, opening the scoring only six minutes into the fixture, when Moustapha Bayal Sall awkwardly deflected a corner kick past 'keeper Etrit Berisha. However, goals from Ogenyi Onazi, Wesley Hoedt, and Lucas Biglia, combined with red cards to Robert Beric and Sall, meant that the Ligue 1 club marked its 50th Europa League appearance with a loss.
Lazio sits atop Group G above Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, courtesy of a greater aggregate of goals, and three points above Rosenborg and Saint-Etienne.
