Slaven Bilic confirms Enner Valencia will have scan on injured knee, says 'it doesn't look good'
The upcoming Premier League season was supposed to be one in which Enner Valencia finally broke out, establishing himself as one of the league's most prolific scorers throughout West Ham United's final season at Upton Park.
That script suddenly isn't looking as plausible.
Only moments after he opened the scoring at Upton Park in the first leg of West Ham's Europa League tie versus Romanian club Astra Giurgiu, Valencia suffered a gruesome knee injury, appearing to get his leg caught beneath him as he made a challenge.
A stretcher was then required to carry the Ecuadorian forward off the pitch, and he needed oxygen before being replaced by Modibo Maiga.

Things then went from bad for West Ham to worse.
Newly appointed manager Slaven Bilic was sent to the stands after contesting one of referee Adrien Jaccottet's decisions, James Collins was the recipient of the club's third red card in four Europa League fixtures, and the final whistle marked a humiliating 2-2 draw for the club.
Speaking after the match, Bilic provided an update on Valencia's injury, and it doesn't bode well for the product of Emelec.
