France's World Cup-winning manager Didier Deschamps added another bit of silverware to his collection after being named the 2018 Best FIFA Men's Coach of the Year in London, England, on Monday.

Deschamps beat out former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and Croatia boss Zlatko Dalic for the honor.

Zidane, who announced his departure from the Spanish giant in May, was named a finalist after guiding Real Madrid to their third-consecutive Champions League triumph. Dalic earned a place in the final three following Croatia's unexpected run to the World Cup final.

But Deschamps collected the prestigious award just over two months after leading France to World Cup glory in Russia.

In doing so, he became just the third person to win football's biggest tournament as both a manager and a player, which he accomplished 20 years ago during France's triumph on home soil.

But despite being hailed as the best manager in football this year during Monday's ceremony, there was plenty of criticism over Deschamps' conservative approach at the beginning of the World Cup.

However, the 48-year-old stayed to true to his style, which proved to be wildly successful for a France squad that conceded just six goals - half of which came during a 4-3 win over Argentina in the round of 16 - en route to beating Croatia in a thrilling final.
