Less than a week after quelling transfer speculation by returning to first-team training, Wesley Sneijder and Galatasaray have parted ways.

The Istanbul giant announced the decision Friday with a statement on its website, ending a three-and-a-half year union between the two parties.

"Galatasaray Sportif AS has informed the KAP that our professional footballer Wesley Sneijder's contract has been terminated mutually," the statement read.

"Our professional footballer, Wesley Sneijder, was terminated mutually without a contract. The footballer waived the warranty fee of €4.5 million during the 2017-2018 season."

Without a club since covering €4.5 million to breech his Galatasaray deal, Sneijder made 175 appearances for the Turkish side after a £6-million move from Serie A, pairing 23 goals in all competitions with 28 helpers.

"If the player is transferred to another football club in Turkey within the next three years, he will pay €20 million compensation," Galatasaray's statement read.

With MLS expansion side Los Angeles FC and Sampdoria both monitoring the former Inter treble winner, Sneijder has suitors for a fifth professional pilgrimage.

In search of a central midfield presence, Sampdoria is prepared to rival LAFC's offer with a bid that would pay Sneijder roughly €2.5 million per season. Reports in June suggested that the MLS side has tabled a offer featuring an annual salary of $3.5 million (€3 million).
