Rickie Fowler

The former Players champ has a victory and a runner-up showing in his previous four starts. Fowler's all-around game, when clicking, suits TPC Sawgrass perfectly.

Hideki Matsuyama

Matsuyama gained a whopping 11.6 strokes tee to green last week at Bay Hill but somehow lost over eight shots putting. Expect the ball striking to continue and his ice-cold putter to rebound.

Sergio Garcia

The 2008 Players champ has gained over five strokes on approach shots in three straight events, producing back-to-back top-10 finishes. He also has three top-10 performances at TPC Sawgrass since 2013.

Dustin Johnson

Surprisingly, Johnson's track record at The Players is spotty, with no finishes inside the top 10. However, he's coming off a dominant win in Mexico and can never be overlooked.

Justin Thomas

Thomas is striking the ball better than anyone so far this season but has no wins to show for it. There's no doubt he can improve on his third-place result from the 2016 Players.

5

Justin Rose

Rose is one of the few players in the field to compete at The Players in both May and March. His up-and-down success at TPC Sawgrass is common, even among the world's top players.

4

Francesco Molinari

Coming off an impressive win at Bay Hill, Molinari now heads to a course where he finished inside the top 10 in three straight appearances before a rare missed cut last year.

3

Tiger Woods

Tiger is the only player to have won at TPC Sawgrass in March and May. He appears to be healthy and is hitting his irons beautifully. A big week is coming.

2

Brooks Koepka

Koepka loves prestigious tournaments, and even though The Players doesn't share the label, it has the feel of a major. He'll be in the mix late on Sunday.

Rory McIlroy

McIlroy's win is coming soon, and until he shows signs his game is off, he'll be the favorite every week. His worst finish this season is sixth, which won't change after The Players.
