Long road ahead

The Toronto Raptors have undergone significant turnover since winning their first championship in June 2019. Many of the stars of that team have since departed, though other notable names are still with the organization.

Who's left?

Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, and Fred VanVleet are the only remaining rotation players from the Raptors' title-winning team. Veterans Marc Gasol, Danny Green, Serge Ibaka, Kawhi Leonard, Kyle Lowry, and Norman Powell have all departed within the last two seasons.

Ujiri sticking around

Of all the Raptors' transactions since winning the championship, retaining vice chairman and president Masai Ujiri on a long-term deal this offseason was most crucial to Toronto's long-term success.

Masai's vision

Rather than swinging for the fences on another Kawhi-level blockbuster, Ujiri has preached building from within - intelligent drafting with an emphasis on player development - as the Raptors' best path back to a championship.

Homecoming

After essentially operating as a permanent road team for nearly two seasons, the Raptors should more closely resemble a playoff squad once they're back playing in front of fans in Toronto for the first time since February 2020.

We just can't wait to get back to Toronto. We can't wait to get back to basketball, to life. I'm just so excited about this.
