Draft day

A bright-eyed, bushy-tailed Luongo was selected fourth overall in the 1997 draft by the New York Islanders. At the time, it was highest a goaltender had ever been drafted.

Becoming elite

2003-04 was not just Luongo's best season, but one of the finest campaigns by a goalie ever. Though the Florida Panthers were one of the worst teams in the league, he was spectacular. Unfortunately, Martin Brodeur beat him out for the Vezina Trophy.

1st playoff game

Luongo didn't make the playoffs in his first stint in Florida. When he finally did make the postseason in 2007 after being traded to Vancouver, he arrived on the scene with authority, delivering a 72-save performance against the Dallas Stars in his debut.

2010 Olympics

Luongo helped Canada capture gold on home soil at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. He was sensational, winning all five of his starts while allowing just nine goals with a .927 save percentage.

2011 Stanley Cup run

Luongo helped the Canucks reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, giving the franchise a chance at its first ring. He posted a .914 save percentage and four shutouts along the way, but was outdueled by Tim Thomas in the final against the Boston Bruins.
