Napoli completed its first acquisition of the January transfer window Wednesday with the arrival of Alberto Grassi from Atalanta.
The club confirmed the move after agreeing to a transfer fee with its Serie A rival to secure the 20-year-old midfielder's services.
"Napoli would like to announce that Alberto Grassi has joined the club on a permanent contract that expires in June 2020," the club said.
Although Grassi's arrival isn't expected to have a major impact in the club's fortunes, the defensive midfielder will provide depth for a Napoli outfit attempting to maintain top spot in the Serie A table.
The Italian side currently holds a two-point edge on defending Serie A champions Juventus with 47 points through 21 contests.
