Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Messi among nominees for Best FIFA Men's Player
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is set to challenge Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi for the 2020 Best FIFA Men's Player award.
Lewandowski, the presumptive favorite to win the Ballon d'Or before the annual honor was scrapped due to the coronavirus pandemic, shattered goal-scoring records last season while leading Bayern to a historic treble.
Joining Lewandowski on the 11-player list is former Bayern teammate Thiago Alcantara, who moved to Liverpool in the summer. The Spanish midfield ace is one of four players currently representing the English champions to make the cut alongside Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane.
Rounding out the nominees are Paris Saint-Germain duo Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, Real Madrid stalwart Sergio Ramos, and reigning PFA Premier League Player of the Year Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City.
