Liverpool completed its capture of Roma goalkeeper Alisson on Thursday, making him the most expensive shot-stopper in history, and at least one Reds player was keen to see the deal get over the line.

The move had been in the works for some time, and the Brazilian has revealed his former Giallorossi teammate Mohamed Salah sent him a text on Thursday, demanding an update.

"Yesterday, (Salah) sent me a message to say, 'Hey, what are you waiting for?'" the 25-year-old said on Friday, according to ESPN. "As the negotiations were at an advanced stage, I replied to him straight away saying, 'Calm down, I'm on my way!'

"I'm really happy to have the opportunity to play alongside him again."

Alisson and Salah spent a single season together in Rome in 2016-17. The goalkeeper did not play a single minute in Serie A but made 15 appearances across all competitions, while Salah scored 19 goals in 41 games to earn a move to Anfield.

They then faced each last season in the wild Champions League semi-finals as Liverpool beat the Italian side 7-6 on aggregate over two legs.

The pair will now be reunited after Alisson established himself as the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper last term with a number of superb displays for an impressive Roma side.
