Report: Buffon in advanced negotiations over PSG move
Paris Saint-Germain's reported chase for Gianluigi Buffon may be nearing a resolution.
According to Fabrizio Romano and Sachin Nakrani of The Guardian, the Ligue 1 champions are reportedly in advanced talks with the iconic goalkeeper over a move to the French capital. The deal, which could pay Buffon €7 million per season, would last until 2020, keeping him at PSG until he's 43.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi attempted to dispel rumours Sunday linking his club to Buffon, stating that the French side was confident in its incumbent No. 1 option in goal, Alphonse Areola. But despite Khelaifi's candid comments, Romano and Nakrani report Buffon met with PSG representatives Monday and will hold another meeting with them Tuesday. A final decision is expected soon after.
Buffon played his final match with Juventus on Sunday, ending an illustrious 17-year tenure with the reigning seven-time Serie A champions. He joined Juventus in 2001 from Parma for €52 million, still a record fee for a goalkeeper.
