Report: Inter agrees to sign Rafinha on loan with €35M option to buy
Inter has reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign midfielder Rafinha on loan with a €35-million option to buy, according to Sky Sport Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio.
Rafinha only returned to action Wednesday in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals after a 290-day layoff with a serious knee injury. He ruptured ligaments in the same knee two years earlier.
Inter was apparently wary of Rafinha's physical condition while negotiating a deal. By taking the 24-year-old on a temporary basis for the remainder of the current season, the Nerazzurri mitigated the cost of a potential setback.
Capable of playing in midfield or on the right wing, Rafinha will offer Luciano Spalletti some versatility and much-needed depth. Inter has paid the price for entering the campaign with a thin squad, going winless over its past five matches after surging to the top of the Serie A table.
Rafinha has made just 30 league starts since the beginning of the 2014-15 season.
